Rebecca Zumpe, MAEd., LCMHCA, LCASA, NCC
Hi. My name is Rebecca Zumpe. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from North Carolina Wesleyan College then continued my education later in life receiving a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and a certificate in substance use counseling. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) licensed through the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors license no. A-16327. I am licensed as a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate (LCASA) licensed through the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board license no. LCASA-26998, and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC#1405924) through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC).
I became a clinical mental health counselor because I a deep passion working with individuals to help themselves in taking back control of their lives. I love seeing people not just heal, but the impact that they make when they are happier and healthier on their families, friends, and communities.
I have experience working with individuals, adolescents, and with groups, as well as with substance use and addiction in hospital and agency settings. The therapeutic approaches and counseling techniques I facilitate are eclectic incorporating Strength-Based (SB), Person-Centered (PC) view of human nature an individualized approach where the client can explore his/her own personal growth and development in a safe environment, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to assist individual in finding solutions to life’s interfering problems, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) which focuses on helping individuals change patterns of thoughts and behavior utilizing different action strategies, and Motivational Interviewing (MI) in individual counseling sessions, and have specialized training in the Gottman Method for couples counseling to teach communication and conflict resolution skills. Depending on your individual needs, I will use different methods of counseling to help with healing and if what we do doesn't work, I'm gonna change it up or refer you out. I care more about you actually healing and making progress and living a healed life full of joy than anything else.
I create a safe space by welcoming all people and their emotions. I am currently accepting new clients in my Wilmington office or via Telehealth and work with individuals and couples. I know it can feel like a big step to call a counselor, but I’ll make it easy. We’ll spend 15-minutes on the phone where we can explore your needs and determine whether we might be a good fit for therapy together. If I am not the right person, I’ll do my best to get you to the right person.
